Frequently asked questions
Here are answers to common questions about lactation consulting services.
What can a lactation consultation help with?
Lactation support is tailored to your individual goals and concerns. I can help with latch and positioning, painful or sore nipples, engorgement, milk-supply concerns, pumping, bottle introduction, and building confidence with feeding your baby. If your baby is having ongoing difficulty latching or may need additional feeding support, I can also help guide you toward appropriate referrals.
Do you offer prenatal lactation consultations?
Yes. A prenatal consultation is a great opportunity to prepare before your baby arrives. We can talk through what to expect in the early days of breastfeeding, hand expression and colostrum harvesting, pump options, flange sizing, and practical ways to feel more confident before delivery.
Can you help with pumping, a NICU stay, or returning to work?
Absolutely. Whether you are exclusively pumping, pumping while your baby is in the NICU, or planning your return to work, I can help you create a realistic pumping routine. We can discuss pump options, proper fit, milk storage, maintaining supply, and strategies that support your feeding goals and daily life.
What should I expect during an in-home postpartum visit?
During your visit, we will talk through your concerns, assess feeding as appropriate, and work together on practical next steps. You will receive personalized guidance on latch, positioning, pumping, comfort, and any challenges you are experiencing. My goal is for you to leave the visit feeling supported, informed, and more confident in your next feeding.
When should I reach out, and what areas do you serve?
You do not need to wait until feeding feels overwhelming to ask for support. Reach out whenever you have questions, discomfort, concerns about supply, pumping needs, or simply want reassurance that you and your baby are on the right track. In-home appointments are available by appointment in Alpharetta, Cumming, Roswell, Johns Creek, and surrounding North Georgia communities.
